Leadership post

Excerpts:
The relational model of leadership views leadership as residing not in individuals, but in the spaces among individuals.  Although school administrators play a vital role in these efforts, teachers are uniquely positioned to contribute special assets to the school leadership mix in each of the three areas.
They are motivated by a desire to help students and support their fellow teachers, not to enforce a new policy or to evaluate others' competencies. Other teachers can go to teacher leaders without fear of judgment or dismissal. Their conversations can be frank, authentic, and caring.

It makes sense to have leaders that are seen as accessible instead of on a pillar of crazy altitudes, lofty and disengaged from those that are doing the real work.

I, as well as Drew, am a co-advisor for the WHS Student Council, so we are fulfilling this role by letting students have some autonomy, but also guiding them into doing the best that they can.

I think that a point of growth for us could be re-defining our purpose every year and making sure that students know that we are trying to serve not only the High School but our community at large!
